What to know before you go
- Son Tra Peninsula sits northeast of Da Nang and is often called the city's green lung. The area includes forested hills, coastal roads, beaches, viewpoints, and spiritual landmarks, making it one of the most diverse attractions in central Vietnam.
- Linh Ung Pagoda on Son Tra is a major highlight, famous for the massive Lady Buddha statue that overlooks Da Nang Bay. The peninsula is also one of the best places in Vietnam to see red-shanked douc langurs, but wildlife should be observed quietly and from a respectful distance.
- For solo travelers, the peninsula is best explored by scooter or taxi/ride-hailing, with early starts recommended for cooler weather, better visibility, and fewer tour groups. Road conditions can be steep in places, so caution is important on curves and when it rains.
