What to know before you go
- The Twin Fairy Mountains rise to about 1,120m above sea level and are best viewed from the Quan Ba Heaven Gate (Cổng Trời Quản Bạ), the first major viewpoint on the Ha Giang Loop about 45km north of Ha Giang city.
- The mountains are steeped in H'mong legend — locals believe a beautiful fairy descended from the heavens, fell in love with a mortal man, and transformed into the two mountains to watch over the valley and its people.
- The surrounding Quan Ba valley is filled with terraced rice fields, H'mong villages, and dramatic karst scenery, making this stop worth more than just a quick photo. The nearby Tam Son town has basic cafes and guesthouses for those wanting to linger.
