Vietnam's northernmost landmark — a 33m flag tower atop Dragon Mountain marking the country's geographic extreme, with sweeping views over the border landscape.
Lung Cu Flag Tower (Cột Cờ Lũng Cú) stands at 1,470m above sea level on top of Dragon Mountain (Núi Rồng) in Lung Cu commune, Dong Van District — the northernmost point of Vietnam. The current tower, 33.15m tall and 3.8m in diameter, was built in 2010 and flies a massive 54m² national flag representing Vietnam's 54 ethnic groups. Climbing 286 steps to the top rewards visitors with panoramic views across the border into China and over the surrounding karst plateau.

What to know before you go
- Lung Cu has been a Vietnamese border marker since the Ly Dynasty (11th century). The current flag tower was upgraded in 2010 to its present height of 33.15m, and the flag — 54m² — symbolizes Vietnam's 54 ethnic minority groups.
- From the top of the tower, on clear days visitors can see into Yunnan Province, China to the north, and sweeping karst plateau views to the south. The climb involves 286 steps from the base.
- The surrounding Lung Cu commune is home to H'mong and Lo Lo ethnic communities. The nearby Lo Lo Chai village is just 1km away and makes for a natural combined visit.
