What to know before you go
- Bokor National Park covers a massive area of the Elephant Mountains. Established as a hill resort by French colonialists in the 1920s to escape the lowland heat, the plateau became an eerie ghost town due to subsequent wars.
- The main draw is the atmospheric ride up the mountain road to the 1,079-meter high plateau. Up top, visitors can explore historic relics including the restored Le Bokor Palace, an abandoned old Catholic church, and the giant Lok Yeay Mao statue protecting the mountain.
